Who are we
The philosophy of Stone Wave Yoga, a wellness, art and yoga center, is inspired by our view of Millbrook Cliff that is part of the glorious Shawangunk Ridge in the Hudson Valley in upstate New York. Stone Wave, represents a breaking wave, power, strength and fluidity. For the cliffs to form and become the mecca for climbers, hikers and nature enthusiasts it is today, the stone wave has been breaking for thousands of years creating this stunning natural habitat. We believe that like stone, we seek strength and stability. And yet like a breaking wave, we must remain agile and flexible, allowing for deeper growth and openness to beautiful change. At Stone Wave, we work to create an environment that focuses on the mind-body-spirit connection. Yoga strengthens our bodies, helps us manage stress, and improves our self-image. Yoga and wellness offerings at Stone Wave are for all.
More about us
Liz Glover Wilson, along with her partner, topiary artist Keith Buesing, has a lot to be proud of since opening Stone Wave Yoga last June. In just a year, this ambitious and passionate yogi has amassed a diverse line up of experienced instructors, renovated a 3,800 sq. ft. property into a warm, inviting wellness and art center with multiple studios; and begun to cultivate a space where all are truly welcome to learn, grow, and heal. After a long career as an event planner in New York’s East Village, Liz has now dedicated herself to manifesting her dharma through her work at Stone Wave. She’s practiced yoga for nearly 20 years, is a Reiki Master and holds multiple certifications, including prenatal yoga, Hot HIIT, RYT-200 and recently completed her RYT-500.
Making the space a “warm and welcoming environment” for people of all ethnicities, abilities, and creeds has been a priority for Liz since the beginning. “We’re going into our second year, and our student base is beautifully diverse,” Liz says. “Our motto is ‘come as you are.’ It’s incredibly fulfilling to watch that be manifested!”
Our 3,800 sq. ft. facility is located just 80 miles north of Manhattan, 1.7 miles from the Hamlet of Gardiner, 9 miles from New Paltz, and 4 miles from Mohonk Preserve’s visitor center. Our beautiful space is an ideal place to rent and/or customize your own retreat or event.
Stone Wave has two yoga studios and an adjacent arts center. Sunflower Art Studios was established in 2016, and is a non-profit focused on bringing accessibility to the arts in the Mid-Hudson. The entire facility includes two kitchens, two bathrooms and stunning views. There are many places to stay nearby. Stone Wave offers retreats, teacher trainings and workshops throughout the year.
